Ghana Entertainment News: The Slave King In Theaters This June 17

Young Ghanaian film writer Gilbert Ramy Carrey is pumped up for the premier of his long awaited movie this June 17. His movie The Slave King can be viewed at the Silverbird Cinemas at the Accra and Westhills Malls.

The Slave King is a movie about Guru, a young man who becomes a slave after he is captured by a cruel and unforgiving king. Guru's lover is also captured and enslaved by the same king.

The young man tries to escape together with his lover and the other slaves but little does he know that the king wants to marry his woman. The king later on decides to pay assassins and send Guru to his final destination. Read more great facts on  entertainment news, click here. 

The movie is full of brilliant and seasoned Ghanaian actors. Some of the actors you are sure to recognize are Edinam Atatsi, Jose Tolvert and Fred Nii Amugi.

The writer of this movie, Gilbert is honored as he is nominated in the Discovery of the Year category during the annual EMY Africa Award. During his interview, he said that his source of inspiration came when he read Ola Rotimi's The God's Are Not To Be Blamed. As a result, he is now making a grand debut in the film writing industry. Believe it or not, Gilbert has dreams of creating this movie a long time ago. He said that he was 11 when he started writing the draft of the movie. The youngest African writer and producer serves as an inspiration to each and every aspiring writers especially the young ones.

When he was asked why the people should watch his movie, he said that it is a classic Ghanaian movie with an exciting storyline and is packed with the most talented and brilliant cast and crew. He is very confident that the people will appreciate and love his film. He also added that people should bring their entire family when watching his film because it contains important morals and life lessons.

The Slave King is a big stepping stone for the Ghanaian movie industry because this will showcase their dedication and hard work. The Slave King is an action packed movie and at the same time it covers the effects of slavery and chaos. Gilbert said he is hoping to open the eyes and minds of his viewers so that they may realize that these are very serious issues in our society. He also mentioned that we should be grateful we are living in a different era and that we are free men.
